I know it's sort of Spanglish, but there's no word for that, I fear. In Spain, competitive examinations for people wanting a public-sector job (eg. to teach in a state primary school, as it is my case) are called "oposiciones". The large number of candidates, or "opositores" - much higher than the number of posts available - means that the exams are very difficult. Those successful obtain very secure employment. Many people have private coaching for the exams. Well, this is my situation, right now, and that's why this will be my last journal until July 2011, for sure. I just wanted you to know.
